Hollow Reaches

Hollow Reaches is a proper role-playing game that somehow fits on a phone without feeling cramped. Combat is turn-based and leans on positioning, so you're always thinking about where your party stands rather than just mashing attack.

The writing is the surprise here. The world is bleak in a quiet way, and the characters have enough personality that I kept pushing through just to see what happened next. Side quests mostly avoid busywork and tie back into the main thread.

It's a longer commitment than most mobile games, maybe fifteen hours for the core story, but it saves anywhere and never punishes you for playing in short bursts.
